ESU Strings: For the community

Emporia State University Department of Music offers classes, lessons, ensembles and a summer camp for the Emporia and surrounding communities. You don’t have to be an ESU student to take advantage of the many resources and attractive events offered throughout the year.

Stringfully is a String Academy that takes place during the school year for students in Elementary and Middle School that play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello and bass). There is an orchestra for each playing ability. Students attend once a week to learn their instrument in group classes with ESU faculty, alumni, student teachers.

Emporia State University offers a one-week string camp to children and teens in the Emporia community in early August. Chamber music, orchestra, music theory and group instrument classes are offered. It is a great summer experience!

The Emporia Symphony Orchestra is made up of ESU students, faculty and community members. The orchestra performs several concerts throughout the year and is a wonderful collaboration between ESU and the community.
